Alex Firmani is a photojournalist and documentary wedding photographer in Vancouver, Canada. Alex has been a photographer for over 20 years and with traditional training in photojournalism he brings both classical and modern techniques that will give a fresh look to your big event. My passion for photography had an early beginning.

I remember taking my first film photographs when I was 7 or 8 years old after graduating from the Polaroid above. My dad gave me his love of photography and also his old cameras (always a clever ploy so he could buy a new one).

While in high school, I interned for the St. Petersburg Times and I attended the Poynter Insititute for Journalism. I continued working for newspapers and wire services through college at the University of Florida where I furthered my studies of photojournalism and documentary photography.

My photography style

My goal is to document the candidness and emotion of real life. Once the photographer has guided or posed or recreated a moment, they are influencing your day and making it a staged event. I want my images to represent you, in your best light at your event, as it happened.

New to the business but not the industry

While I am new to the Vancouver wedding and portraiture business, I am not new to the photography industry. I am an expert in post-processing and I have extensive experience with digital processes having worked in new media companies for over a decade. I've now decided to expand my photography into more areas and I'm offering introductory pricing on my wedding photography packages under $2000 if you have a ceremony coming up before summer 2010.

Travel and destination weddings

I am available for weddings throughout B.C., Canada, the United States, and destinations abroad. A few of the cities I am comfortable and experienced photographing include: Vancouver, Victoria, San Francisco, Amsterdam, and Wailea. I'm happy to put together a custom photography and travel package to match your destination wedding.

Dates for local weddings in cities surrounding Vancouver are also available, including White Rock, Richmond, Delta, Burnaby, New Westminster, Langley, Surrey, Cloverdale, Abbotsford, and Chilliwack.
