The Polar Bear Swim – Vancouver 2010

January 1st, 2010 – The Polar Bear Swim, Vancouver, BC.

Wow, was it cold. And rainy. And wet… it didn’t matter whether you went in the water or not, everyone was the same amount of soaked at the end — swimmers and spectators alike.

This was my first Polar Bear Swim and won’t be my last. I did go in! Beforehand, I asked some of the swimmers to pose for portraits:

    The world is coming to Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympics on February 12 so there will be a Polar Bear Swim on Saturday, February 13 at 2:30 p.m. in English Bay. Vancouver is the original home of the first Polar Bear Swim so let’s show the world that swimming is a winter sport, too!
