Would you prefer to pay for it??? Not everyone is opposed to the Olympics or the spending for this event. Why do you and others like you feel compelled to complain? Do you really think that anyone was going to change their mind? No one had any intention of posting a sign at the airport saying "Sorry, the party has been cancelled." Your fight was over the moment they said "the 2010 Olympic Winter games have been awarded to the city of... Vancouver". Even if we hadn't got the games, there is NO WAY the money would have gone to 'house the homeless', 'raise welfare', or to rehab the junkies off the downtown eastside. I'm a tax payer and a working single mother. I don't collect government handouts, and although I would love an ocean side residence in Vancouver; I atleast have the common sense to live where I can afford to. Holding a protest sign and complaining doesn't give you the right to live in a city that you can't afford. I would rather see the money used to fund a free zip line in Vancouver that my son and I will use than to give a handout to someone with a false sense of entitlement.

[...] ZIPPY! POSTED February 5, 2010 BY Bob K I must admit that BC premier Gordon Campbell is probably the last person I would expect to see zipping by overhead on that free Robson Street Zipline. This is so awesome. Full story and plenty more pics HERE. [...]
